Up Rap - Is Hop
Hop Romantic?
|
April 2007
In
the wake of the Don Imus firing, rap mogul Russell Simons wants to clean up Hip
Hop. He has identified three words that shouldn't be used and need not be repeated
here.
We
have to ask - Is there anything romantic about the words of Hip Hip music? Our
panel adds their fifty-cent(s).

"Yes,
hip hop is very sexy. I never liked how they would say all those words about women,
but there indeed is something more to it than that. So, I am arguing in defense
of hip hop. I used to do my best Vegas shows to Jay-Z."
Shows
in Vegas, Sharon?

"I
think Russell Simons should use his industry clout to clean it all up. I mean
if that Don Imus dude could get fired for using words that actually come from
hip hop, then what the hell? That doesn't make sense. But, then most things don't
seem to make sense. I like to keep things simple."
We
love it that way too, Anita.

"Hmm,
I never really got into Hip Hop – I myself, prefer country music, which to me
always tells a story. Hip Hop seems much more focused on simply conquering women.
That is not my thing. I am a country boy at heart."
To
each his own, Teddy.
